"O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years!"
Revival may begin through a powerful encounter with God, but it is sustained through daily surrender. Spiritual awakening is not meant to be a brief season of excitement that slowly becomes a distant memory. God desires the work He begins in us to produce lasting devotion, obedience, and transformation.
We sustain revival by continually making room for God. Prayer, Scripture, worship, repentance, and Christian fellowship keep our hearts responsive to the Holy Spirit. These practices do not earn God's presence; they help us remain rooted in the relationship He has graciously given us.
Revival weakens when spiritual hunger is replaced by comfort. Pride, distraction, unresolved conflict, hidden sin, and dependence on yesterday's experiences can gradually extinguish our passion. We cannot live forever on the memory of what God once did. We need fresh grace and renewed surrender every day.
Sustained revival must also produce visible fruit. If our spiritual experiences do not make us more loving, holy, generous, forgiving, and concerned for the lost, we have missed part of God's purpose. Revival is not maintained by emotion alone. It continues as believers obey God in ordinary situations and faithfully represent Jesus.
Unity is also essential. Bitterness, competition, and division can hinder what God desires to accomplish among His people. We must protect relationships through humility, forgiveness, and Christlike love.
Ask God to preserve the fire He has kindled within you. Remain teachable, guard your private devotion, and respond quickly when the Spirit corrects you. Do not seek merely to repeat a past experience. Seek a growing relationship with God that continues transforming your life.
Revival is sustained when God's people refuse to return to spiritual complacency. Keep seeking, keep obeying, and keep giving Jesus the glory.
Reflection
Am I building a daily life with God, or am I depending mainly on past spiritual experiences?
Application
Identify one spiritual discipline you have neglected. Restore it to your daily routine and ask God to use it to strengthen your relationship with Him.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, sustain Your work within me. Protect my heart from pride, distraction, compromise, and spiritual complacency. Renew my hunger for Your presence and help me remain faithful in prayer, Scripture, worship, and obedience. Let the fruit of revival continue growing in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
