"Jesus said to him, 'If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.'"
God is able to do what lies beyond human strength. The miracles of Jesus reveal His authority and compassion, drawing our attention to who He is. Faith for miracles begins with confidence in Him and a willingness to bring our needs into His presence.
In Mark 9, a father brought his suffering son to Jesus. The situation had overwhelmed him, and the disciples had been unable to help. Jesus invited him to believe, directing his attention towards the power available in Him.
The father responded honestly: he believed, yet he also needed help with unbelief. Jesus did not require him to hide that struggle. We too can approach the Lord with a sincere heart, asking Him to strengthen us where fear and doubt remain.
Faith is directed towards God Himself. Its power does not come from the force of our emotions or the confidence of our words. We ask for miracles because He is able, and we trust Him because His character is faithful.
We can pray boldly while submitting our requests to God's wisdom and will. The Bible contains both miraculous deliverance and faithful endurance through suffering. A delayed or different answer does not give us grounds to condemn someone's faith or assume that God has abandoned them.
As we pray, we should continue to act wisely and receive appropriate help. Seeking medical treatment, following sound advice, and accepting support can accompany trust in God. We look to Him for both extraordinary intervention and daily sustaining grace.
Bring your need to Jesus today. Ask specifically, remember His compassion, and allow others to pray with you. Whether His answer comes through a sudden miracle or strength for the journey, keep your heart anchored in the Lord who loves you.
Reflection
Am I placing my confidence in Jesus Himself while honestly bringing Him my need and my doubts?
Application
Read Mark 9:14–29. Pray specifically about one need that seems beyond your ability, and ask a trusted believer to join you in prayer while you continue taking wise practical steps.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I believe that nothing is beyond Your power. Please intervene in the situation I bring before You, and help me where my faith is weak. Give me wisdom for each step and peace as I entrust the outcome to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
