"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
God's Word gives direction in a world filled with competing voices. Many opinions promise happiness, success, or security, but Scripture teaches us to recognize what honours God. Through His Word, we learn who He is and how He calls us to live.
A lamp does not always reveal the entire journey. Often, it provides enough light for the next step. In the same way, God may guide us through a clear command or principle before showing us how every detail will unfold.
Reading the Bible should draw us into fellowship with God. We come with teachable hearts, asking the Holy Spirit to help us understand and respond. The purpose is to know God more deeply and allow His truth to shape us.
God's Word encourages us, but it also corrects us. It exposes wrong motives, challenges harmful habits, and confronts beliefs that oppose His truth. Receiving correction is part of spiritual growth, even when it makes us uncomfortable.
The benefit of hearing Scripture becomes evident as we obey it. We may know verses about forgiveness while holding resentment, or verses about honesty while hiding the truth. Growth requires us to put what we have learned into practice.
When confusion or temptation comes, the Word gives us a firm foundation. We can examine our choices in the light of Scripture rather than allowing feelings or pressure to determine our direction. God's truth remains dependable when circumstances change.
Make room for the Word today. Read carefully, consider its meaning in context, and respond to what God teaches. You may not understand everything ahead, but you can walk faithfully in the light He has already given.
