"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
Receiving the gospel changes both what we believe and how we live. Through Jesus Christ, we become people whose words, choices, and relationships can point others towards God. His love becomes visible through our everyday conduct.
Jesus calls His followers to shine. Light helps people see clearly, and our lives should help others recognize something of God's goodness. Kindness, honesty, humility, and faithfulness give practical expression to the message we proclaim.
Good works do not earn salvation. They are the fruit of God's work within those who have received His grace. We serve others because Christ has loved us, and we desire that they experience His love through us.
Our witness is tested in ordinary moments. How we respond to an insult, handle money, treat a colleague, or speak about someone who is absent can strengthen or weaken our testimony. Faithfulness in private gives credibility to our words in public.
Living the gospel does not mean pretending to be perfect. When we fail, we should acknowledge our wrong, seek forgiveness, and make things right where possible. Humble repentance reveals that we also depend upon the mercy we proclaim.
Our actions should be accompanied by a willingness to speak about Jesus. People need to hear who He is and what He has done. As opportunities arise, we can explain our hope with gentleness and respect.
Today, your home, workplace, school, and community are places where you can bear witness to Christ. Ask God to make your conduct consistent with your confession. Let people encounter His kindness through your life and hear His good news through your words.
Reflection
Do my everyday choices help others understand the love and truth of Jesus?
Application
Choose one deliberate act of kindness today. If an opportunity arises, explain how your faith in Jesus motivates the way you live.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, let my life reflect the gospel I believe. Help me to walk in honesty, humility, and love. Forgive me where my conduct has weakened my witness, and give me wisdom to speak about Jesus with gentleness and courage. In Jesus' name, Amen.
